⁷ And war broke out in heaven, Michael and his angels making war against the dragon.^[a] The dragon and his angels fought, ⁸ but they were not strong enough, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. ⁹ And the great dragon was thrown down—the ancient serpent, called the devil and satan, who deceives the whole world.^[b] He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
